BROWNSVILLE - Time is running out to donate toys for the police department's toy drive.

The police department will recognize all those involved in a charity event on Thursday morning at a Walgreens store located on Ruben Torres. Police officers will be distributing the donated toys this coming Saturday and despite the down economy donations are on pace to exceed the goal of more than 4,000 toys. Brownsville Police Officer Manuel Montes said, "Sponsors, when it come to the children, they open their hearts, open their hands and open their wallets to help us out. We are very thankful and the children that will receive the toys are very thankful as well."
