BROWNSVILLE — The Brownsville Police Department has received a grant of more than $80,000 dollars from TxDOT in enforcing traffic violations by drivers.

The money will be earmarked for STEP or known as Selective Traffic Enforcement Program which focuses on catching drunk drivers, safety belt violators and speeders. The grant money allows police officers to work the overtime and the money is good for one year.
