Brownsville & McAllen ranked with economic growth in metropolitan areas for 2012

WASHINGTON D.C. — The U.S. Department of Commerce recently released new data on the economic growth in metropolitan areas for 2012. The numbers shine a positive light for most Texas cities.
The majority of metropolitan areas experienced positive growth, 305 out of the nation's 381. The rankings are based off real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, real GDP increased nationwide by 2.5 percent, up from 1.7 in 2011.
The table below lists all of Texas' metropolitan areas, their growth rate and 2012 rank.
