A Brownsville man who spent three years on the run is now guilty of murder.

A Cameron county jury found Miguel Balderas guilty in the 2003 death of Enrique Velez. Police found Velez murdered in April 2003 after an anonymous call led officers to his body. Police say a fingerprint found inside Velez's home pointed police to Balderas who disappeared after the murder. Officers found him three years later in Austin and Balderas could serve from 5 to 99 years in prison or life. His sentence hearing is set for March 12th.
