Brownsville I.S.D. Officials Concerned with STARR Testing
BROWNSVILLE — The STARR testing is continuing to raise questions and concerns from students, parents and school educators after it replaced the state mandated TAKS test.
The STARR testing is expected to create an increase in summer school enrollment because a number of students are expected to fail in the first round of testing and those students who are opting to prepare, in order to pass the test, will be attending summer school classes. This has become a concern for district officials, who are in a tight budget, from the educational state budget cuts.
