The Brownsville I.S.D. is asking all students to attend classes on Friday as the day marks the Texas Education Agency's annual Public Information Management System, or PEIMS Snapshot Day.

These numbers will determine funding for the school district for the next school year. Right now, B.I.S.D. gets about $36 a day per student for attendance. In addition to B.I.S.D.'s goal of raising attendance rates, high school students with perfect attendance will get a chance to win a special prize as BISD PEIMS Director Joe Pedraza stated, " Cardenas Mazda, this year, graciously donated a car to the Brownsville I.S.D. so that we can give this car away to a student at the end of the year with perfect attendance. It's important for all students to be in attendance on Friday because we're counting enrollment and enrollment affects, of course, school funding and accountability."
