Brownsville Industrial Park Opens for Business
Brownsville may soon see an increase in jobs thanks to the North Brownsville Industrial Park which is now open for business.
The ground breaking for the 73 acre park took place on Wednesday afternoon and is expected to attract several major employers. The park consists of 11 lots ranging from two acres to ten acres in size. The project, located on Paredes Line road took both four years and $4 million dollars to build. Gilberto Salinas, of the Brownsville Economic Development Council, has high expectations for the park expecting up to ten companies to be doing business and creating up to 2,000 jobs.
The goal of the park is to bring much needed jobs to Brownsville, but also higher quality jobs that pay more than the Brownsville average of $12 dollars per hour.
