A Brownsville firefighter collapsed in the line of duty battling a house fire on Wednesday evening.

The Fire Department reported that the firefighter was helping in battling a house fire on Jefferson and 4th street and collapsed from heat exhaustion. Firefighters responded to the fire and investigators believe a electrical short was the cause of the fire.
