Cameron County District Attorney's will have to determine if they want to prosecute Brownsville Mayor Pat Ahumada of check fraud.

After more than a month long investigation, the Brownsville Police Department has handed the $26,000 dollar check along with other documents to the District Attorney's office for further review.

Spokesman for the District Attorney, Jason Moody, says the office received the documents a few days ago and is currently investigating the case. Ahumada is being investigated because he allegedly deposited a $26,000 dollar check that was written out New York company into his business account.
