On Saturday night, October 5th Dean Porter Park will transform into a beer lovers paradise, where people can sample a wide variety of unique beers.

"We will have 200 beers from all over the world Russian, German, Chinese, Argentine; you name a variety of beers." said president of Brownsville Beer Fest Eliseo Davila.

Whether you're a beer drinker or not, there will be plenty of fun.

"We are going to have 18 restaurants that will be giving away food, we are going to have live music Whiskey D will perform live on stage including several other local groups from Brownsville."said Davila.

Brownsville beer fest is also teaming up with an insurance company to offer something for those designated drivers.

"It’s a designated driver ticket they are giving tickets away at the door, they purchased 100 tickets to give away at the door, the designated driver will get to enter for free, they get to eat, enjoy the music and take someone home safely."said Davila.

President of the Brownsville Beer Fest Eliseo Davila says the money raised from this festival will be going to charity.

"We are a 501c3 non-profit, and our 4 charities consist of the zoo, the tip of Texas outreach program, program youth homeless resource center, and the Children's Museum of Brownsville, all of the net proceeds will go towards those charities."said Davila.

In preparation for the main event Saturday, Beer Fest has what's called beer week.. Each night this week are holding a beer event. Tuesday night they had what was called a pairing event, which was a 4 course meal paired with unique beers.
Artisanal Regional Manager Christopher Campana explains the different types of beers they are drinking.

"It’s a 6.5% beer, they call it a farm house ale it has a barn yard taste to it, wheaty and kind of grassy."said Campana.

Wednesday night will be a pub crawl, Thursday an Octoberfest event, and Friday Zoofari at the zoo.
