Brownsville Animal Shelter Over Crowded

The Brownsville Animal Shelter is forced to euthanize hundreds of animals each month. Mayor Pat Ahumada says around 7,000 animals die every year because there's just not enough room to house them. Dozens of animals are taken to the Brownsville Animal Shelter daily; some are brought in by Animal Control, while others are given away by their own owners. A proposal that would have expanded the shelter and saving hundreds of animals failed months ago. Right now, the shelter can only house 62 dogs and for the Mayor, that number is not enough for a city so large. He believes the shelter should be expanded.

and to top it of theres only 3 rescues for cats and kittens thats not enough. come on. why dont we do something about this. i would but im one person. but a lot of people are upset not just me. its pithetic. we are the only place in texas that doesnt have over 1 shelter and 10 rescues more less free programs for poor families or severe low income. want the over population to stop then do what your reading. maybe its just people want to complain and truthfully inside they just dont care or maybe

not only should it be expanded but there should be more than one shelter for a place like brownsville thhis is ridiculous. we are a big city just like dallas and san antonio and we cant do that. somethings wrong when we caant do that. im very upset to think theres not one spay/nueter program thats free for those on government assistance or for the very poor families that would cut down the heavy amount of over population of animals but i guess people just dont have brains r a heart
