Dozens of Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America acted as Brownsville's elected officials for the day.
The groups held an election last month choosing a Mayor, City Commission, City Attorney and City Manager. Others were chosen to shadow other department heads and all were sworn in and took over city business.
Assistant Scout Master for Troop 1 says the Boy Scouts of America and the Girl Scouts of America dot this every year. It's done to teach the kids the importance of local government.
