Border Wall Construction Begins In Brownsville

The controversial border wall is no longer a plan it's a reality. This week the first panels are going up in Brownsville. Construction is underway near downtown Brownsville. The Army Corps of Engineers says just over 8 eight miles will be built near the Amigo Land Mall.
Beams are up as contractors began work at the end of Palm Boulevard building a picket style fence.The Army Engineers say they will build 3 different segments in brownsville totaling 8.2 miles. The wall is 18 feet high.
This 8.2 mile stretch will cost 28 million dollars. The Army says that in total, 35 miles of border wall will be put up in Cameron County.
