Border Patrol Seize $5 Million Dollars in Marijuana
HIDALGO COUNTY — Border Patrol agents seized nearly $5 million dollars worth of marijuana over the weekend in separate incidents.
Agents at the Rio Grande City station had the largest seizure of 2,600 pounds of marijuana hidden in a hay stack after noticing tracks leading away from the river. Agents in McAllen noticed a large number of smugglers near the Rio Grande river but were not able to arrest them as they swam back into Mexico after being spotted by the agents. The smugglers left behind nearly 1,000 pounds of marijuana near the bank of the river.
