Border Patrol agents seize nearly $1.6 million in marijuana

RIO GRANDE VALLEY, TX (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — Border Patrol agents have seized more than 1,000 pounds of marijuana in the last two days.
On Wednesday, June 5, while patrolling the area of La Rosita, agents spotted a group of smugglers loading bundles of marijuana into a Ford Expedition, the smugglers fled back into Mexico, but left behind 1,100 lbs. of the drug.
Border agents on Thursday, near Brownsville, also seized a large load of marijuana after spotting a green Ford Explorer, which appearing filled with bundles of marijuana, at the intersection of Dock Berry and Browne Road.
The agents attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver did a u-turn and drove back towards the Rio Grande River, he was unsuccessful when he flipped the SUV onto its side.
Border agents were able to arrest two men, who were not injured, and seized 700 lbs of marijuana.
