Border Patrol agents seize more than $4.2M in marijuana
RIO GRANDE VALLEY, TX (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — U.S. Border Patrol agents confiscated more than $4.2 million worth of marijuana in multiple seizures in 4 days.
One of the largest seizure happened near Los Ebanos on Tuesday, October 15th when agents spotted two vehicles traveling away from the Rio Grande River at a high rate of speed.
A helicopter was called in to follow the vehicles which did make three brief stops at three separate homes.
Agents were able to stop both vehicles, but the driver of the marijuana loaded vehicle fled on foot and into the brush. The driver of the second vehicle was detained and arrested.
Border Patrol agents returned to the last residence, that the vehicles had stopped at, and found nearly 440 pounds of marijuana.
Several additional seizures brought the four-day total to more than 5,300 pounds
