HIDALGO COUNTY - Border Patrol agents seized more than 30,000 pounds of drugs this past weekend.

On Friday evening, agents spotted several individuals loading bundles of marijuana into a Ford F-150 truck just outside of the City of Escobares. Those individuals ran off after being spotted, but left behind nearly 1,500 pounds of marijuana worth over a million dollars.

Border Patrol agents noticed suspicious activity coming from a ranch house north of Garciasville and when they investigated the situation they found nearly 650 bundles of marijuana stored inside. The agents estimated that the street value of the bust was at $5.7 million dollars.

The agency reported that more than $26 million dollars worth of marijuana was seized this past weekend alone in the Valley.
