McAllen Border Patrol agents seized over 1,200 pounds of marijuana in two separate busts.
Agents near the intersection of Abram road and Military highway on Thursday tried to stop the truck, but the driver got out of the truck and jumped into the Rio Grande river. Over 919 pounds of marijuana was inside the cab and bed of the truck.
In another bust, agents near the McAllen area saw a car speeding away for them and with the help of a helicopter, the agents found the car near the intersection of westbound frontage road of expressway 83 and Bentsen road in Mission. The driver took off, but agents found the 25 bundles of marijuana inside the truck.
Both seizures have an estimated street value of almost $1 million dollars.
