Border Patrol agents arrest woman wanted in auto theft case

U.S. Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley Sector arrested a woman who is wanted by the McAllen Police Department in multiple vehicle thefts.

Suzette Castro, 18, of McAllen was arrested Tuesday when agents were investigating a vehicle along the Rio Grande that was suspected of carrying narcotics. When the occupants of the vehicle spotted the agents, one of the passengers jumped out of the car near the main entrance to Anzalduas Park and fled on foot. Castro continued driving a short distance before abandoning the vehicle near Pepe’s on the River and attempting to flee.

Inside the vehicle agents found nearly 330 pounds of marijuana. Castro was arrested and turned over to the McAllen Police Department along with the marijuana.
