Border patrol agent allegedly assaults 3 women, kills self

MISSION, TX (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — The FBI is investigating a U.S. Border Patrol agent allegedly assaulting three women before taking his own life.
A U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesperson confirms that a search and recovery operation initiated yesterday after an injured woman reported that she and two other females were assaulted by a male subject.
The woman reported that the man stabbed her.
Agents searched the area and later found a second woman who had also been injured. CPB and local law enforcement then launched a search to locate the third woman.
Overnight, Mission police officers located the home of a Border Patrol agent at an apartment complex near the intersection of Shary Road and Military Hwy.
Inside the apartment, police discovered the agent deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The third woman was also found alive in the agent's apartment.
All three female victims are at the hospital receiving medical attention for their injuries.
The FBI is investigating this case with the assistance of Homeland Security Investigations, Hidalgo County Sheriff's Department, and the Mission Police Department.
The identity of the Border Patrol agent is still unknown.

Agents with the McAllen Resident Agency Office of the San Antonio FBI are conducting an investigation into the kidnapping and assault of three undocumented female aliens, which occurred on or about March 12, 2014. Two of the victims escaped on March 12, 2014. After an extensive investigation, with the assistance of Homeland Security Investigations, Hidalgo County Sheriff's Department and Mission Police Department, the third victim was rescued early this morning, March 13, 2014. The subject, a US Customs and Border Protection Agent, was found deceased at his residence. The circumstances of his alleged involvement and subsequent death are under investigation.
Statement from CBP:
On March 12, CBP initiated a search and recovery operation following the encountering of an injured adult female during regular CBP operations who provided information that she and two other females had been assaulted by a male subject. Shortly thereafter, agents encountered a second female who had also been injured. CBP, in conjunction with local law enforcement, deployed assets to support the search for the reported third individual.
Overnight, the Mission Police Department entered into the personal residence of a Border Patrol agent after further information was obtained. Upon entry, Mission PD Department, together with CBP and other law enforcement entities, found the agent deceased and discovered the third female. The three female subjects are alive and receiving appropriate medical care. Federal and local investigating agencies are thoroughly investigating this incident and we will continue to work to ensure that incidents like this to not occur in the future.
CBP takes this incident extremely seriously and we are fully cooperating with the investigation.
