The FBI is investigating a U.S. Border Patrol agent allegedly assaulting three women before taking his own life.

A U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokesperson confirms that a search and recovery operation initiated yesterday after an injured woman reported that she and two other females were assaulted by a male subject.

The woman reported that the man stabbed her.

Agents searched the area and later found a second woman who had also been injured.  CPB and local law enforcement then launched a search to locate the third woman.

Overnight, Mission police officers located the home of a Border Patrol agent at an apartment complex near the intersection of Shary Road and Military Hwy.

Inside the apartment, police discovered the agent deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The third woman was also found alive in the agent's apartment.

All three female victims are at the hospital receiving medical attention for their injuries.

The FBI is investigating this case with the assistance of Homeland Security Investigations, Hidalgo County Sheriff's Department, and the Mission Police Department.

The identity of the Border Patrol agent is still unknown.
