U.S. Border Patrol agents seized weapons, ammunition and grenades in Rio Grande City on Wednesday.

Agents noticed a suspicious vehicle near the river and investigated the area finding a large duffel bag filled with weapons. Inside the bag were eight AK-47's, assault rifles, two grenades, a grenade launcher and nearly 350 rounds of ammunition.

Chief Patrol agent Rosendo Hinojosa says weapon smugglers are having trouble getting these items into Mexico through normal ports of entry and that is why they are attempting to smuggle the weapons across the river.
