Border Agents Seize $2.5 Million Dollars in Marijuana

PENITAS - Border Patrol agents seized more than 3,300 pounds of marijuana on Tuesday morning less than two miles away from the new communication center.

Agents pursued a suspicious vehicle near Penitas and the driver abandoned the vehicle near the Rio Grande river. Agents found bundles of marijuana inside the vehicle along with two other abandoned vehicles in the area. Agents say they spotted more than 30 people in rafts heading back to Mexico. In total. agents report that the estimated value of the marijuana was more than $2.5 million dollars.
