U.S. Border Patrol agents are recovering after an assault during a narcotics seizure south of San Juan.

It happened Wednesday when Weslaco agents followed a car loaded with drugs near the Rio Grande river. As agents approached the car five men threw rocks at them and one of the agents feared for both of their lives and fired his gun. The men escaped into Mexico and the agents found 751 pounds of marijuana valued at nearly $601,000 dollars.
