Boko Haram leader says it will sell the school girls the group kidnapped
Nigeria — A horrific announcement from the leader of an Islamist military group that kidnapped more than 200 Nigerian school girls.
A man claiming to be Boko Haram's leader, Abubakar Shekau, said the group plans to sell the girls. During his nearly hour long speech, Shekau called for Western education to end and said the girls should "Go and get married."
Nigerian authorities say 276 girls were abducted from a school last month when armed members of Boko Haram overwhelmed security guards at school, pulled the girls out of bed and forced them into trucks.
Police say at least 53 of the girls managed to escape. In recent years, Boko Haram, which means "Western Education is a sin." has carried out dozens of attacks, killing hundreds of people at schools, churches, police stations, government buildings and elsewhere.
