"There needs to be more surveillance because most people that are here live here by themselves."
"I think someone just went in her home and killed her."
Harlingen Police Captain Hector Leal says, they discovered the female's body in a freezer, at apartment number one.
At this point, they don't know exactly how long she'd been in there, but they say, it looks like it had been hours.
"She did have injuries all over her body, and we'll know more once detectives attend the autopsy."
Capt. Leal says, it was family members who called police, when they hadn't heard from the victim in awhile.
"At least a day to two days."
"Right now we're working hard and heavy along with other agencies to find out anything we can."
Cameron County District Attorney Investigators and Department of Public Safety Troopers were on-site to help with the investigation.
Housing Authority Director, Blas Cantu says, it's unfortunate what happened, but they are helping with the investigation.
Cantu says, "We're cooperating with police and that's all I can tell you."
With the help of neighbors and family, Capt. Leal says, their top priority is to find out, who did this.
"We're going to see what we can do to see who was involved in this tragic accident."
Police say, the victim lived by herself and didn't live in the complex for very long.
Police did not release her identity, but say, she was in her 30's or 40's.
An autopsy is pending.
