BISD Trustee Candidate Will File For Recount

On election night unofficial numbers for Brownsville ISD Board of Trustees position 7 showed that Linda Gill Martinez beat out Jose Hector Chirinos by four votes.
But those did not include provisional’s and some misplaced ballots that were found Friday after the election.
Final numbers now show Chirinos wins by four votes.
Mary Helen Flores was a poll watcher on election night and says she concerned about the misplaced ballot
"Those ballots were exposed to tampering and whether or not that happened it could have happened and that's the problem."
Election administrator Roger Ortiz says they followed all the correct procedures when the misplaced ballots were found at Election office. Ortiz says he is confident they were not tampered with.
"They were still in the envelopes nothing showed they were pulled out looked at for any reason."
Martinez not ready to speak on camera yet tells us she will be filing for a recount. Martinez also told us she has a hired a lawyer.Martinez plans to file for the recount Friday.
