B.I.S.D. Members Say No Conflict of Interest with Audit Firm
BROWNSVILLE — Brownsville I.S.D. board members held a closed door meeting Tuesday evening to discuss allegations of conflict of interest when it hired Defenbaugh & Associates to perform last month's audit.
Trustees are considering the idea to request a reimbursement of the $250,000 dollar audit, amid allegations that former board president Catalina Presas Garcia, had hired the firm to do legal work for her without informing the other board members. The information remained disclosed until this week and the board denied any allegations of conflict of interest in the case.
