Health officials from both sides of the Border gathered today as part of Binational Health Week in Brownsville. Joining them, regional director for the US Department of health and human services, Marjorie Mccoll Petty.

The training and seminar allowed representatives from both Texas and Tamaulipas to give their perspectives on various health related concerns.

A few of the main topics, community health workers and the obesity-diabetes epidemic.

These meetings allow both states to bounce ideas and solutions to border health issues.

"you learn from each other obviously. If they're doing good program on dengue fever, then you would want to know what's going on there to exchange ideas, so it's very important relationship"

The upper valley held a similar event yesterday as part of the binational health week.
