Bikini Burger Brawl
Irate bikini-clad woman leaps onto counter and attacks Burger King employees.
Video showing a woman trashing a Panama City Beach Burger King has gone viral, even catching the attention of the State Attorney's Office.
While the 30-year-old woman was initially charged only with simple battery, she now faces much more, including a felony charge.
Kimesa Smith lied about her age at her arrest, telling police she was 23.
While she won't be charged with a crime on that count, she is now charged with felony criminal mischief with damage of more than $1,000, two counts of misdemeanor battery, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest without violence.
Smith's tantrum was caught on cell phone video by another restaurant patron, who posted it to the internet, and will no doubt make the case against her hard to defend.
Representatives at the State Attorney's Office charge that she also damaged one of the restaurant's $3,800 LED screens and a cash register.
"Considering how busy the Panama City Beach Police Department is because of Spring
Break," says Assistant State Attorney Greg Wilson, "the State Attorney's Office assisted in the investigation by assigning Investigator Ricky Carleton to do follow-up interviews with witnesses and victims, which led to the additional charges."
While many find the video humorous, others, including State Attorney Glenn Hess, see little to laugh at.
"We see it as hard evidence of serious crimes being committed," State Attorney Glenn Hess said. "I'm quite certain the employees who were battered and terrorized by Ms. Smith do not find this the least bit amusing."
The investigation continues and additional charges may be forthcoming.
