Bike Barn to Offer Bike Safety Classes

Thursday, March 29, 2012 - 9:39am

The Rio Bravo Wildlife Institute will be offering free bike safety classes on defensive cycling every Thursday for all cyclists.

The classes begin at 6 PM in front of the Bike Barn at Gonzalez Park and instructors are hoping to empower cyclists to feel safe while out on the road and to learn different self defense techniques. Joseph Boswell from the institute says it's important for cyclist to know those defensive techniques, "A lot of other people would love to get into a cheaper way of transportation and a more healthy way of transporting themselves around the city, but sometimes the roads aren't safe, they don't know the rules and they're afraid of, maybe not being able to defend themselves if something happens."
