The Battle For Illinois
GOP presidential contenders campaign ahead of tomorrow's Illinois primary. — In the Republican race for the White House, all eyes are on Illinois, a big swing state.
Tuesday's primary is another test for Mitt Romney.
Can he beat Rick Santorum badly enough to look like the sure nominee?
Illinois looks ideal for Romney: A moderate state with lots of delegates.
He won more than half the vote yesterday and all 20 of Puerto Rico's delegates over the weekend.
Rick Santorum is hoping to remind voters of Romney's past.
"He is uniquely disqualified to go out and make case against Obamacare because he developed the blueprint for Obamacare," Santorum told supporters Monday.
Party leaders are not applauding the nasty back-and-forth, fearing it will hurt the eventual nominee.
The Illinois primary is proportional, which almost guaranteeing this race will continue after the vote.
