Man charged with kidnapping elderly woman and forcing her to rob bank with fake bomb.

Herbert and Betty Davis were thrust into the national spotlight Monday when a man police identified as Paul Bradley broke into the the couple's Arkansas home, duct taped Herbert to a stool, then put a fake bomb on Betty Davis' leg and forced her to drive to a nearby bank and withdraw $10,000.

"They told me that if I did or said anything wrong they'd blow the bank and everything up and I just couldn't do that," says Betty Davis.

Instead of worrying about her own life, Betty told the bank teller about the bomb and ran out of the bank.

"If he did what he said he was going to do, that he would blow it up and it would blow the bank and hurt all them people and I just couldn't see that. I mean I am old. I've led a long life, a good life and I certainly didn't want no one injured because of me," says Betty.

And in all the chaos, Betty even thought to help out investigators.

"I prayed all the way into town and memorized that car number," says Betty.

It was Bradley's license plate number, coupled with surveillance video that pointed detectives toward the suspect.

"If we have to have victims in this type of crime we couldn't have had better people than the Davis'," said Washington County Sheriff Tim Helder.

The couple were shocked to find out they knew the man authorities arrested for their kidnapping.

"I just visited with him. I've known him for a long time. Know his sister, his mother," said Herbert Davis.

They both hung out at Rick's Iron Skillet in Fayetteville.

"I had coffee with him all last week a time or two. One morning he paid for my coffee when he got up and left. I'd like to see him and pay him back since he didn't get any money," said Herbert.

Now that Bradley is behind bars, Betty Davis is just glad everyone is safe.

"I do have a great faith in god, and he heard my prayers, because it wasn't a bomb and nothing happened to anybody," she said.
