Horse recovering after being trapped under fallen tree limb.

A very lucky horse is recovering after being trapped under a fallen tree.

The tree was knocked down by high winds near Hudson, New Hampshire on Friday.

It pinned the 15-year-old horse named Scribbles to the ground.

Her caretaker was in a nearby barn just before 10 a.m. when a strong wind gust toppled the tree.

"Her face was in the mud, so I grabbed her halter to try and pull her face out of the mud so she could breathe a little bit better cause she was still convulsing. I actually got shocked cause she was laying on the electric fence," said Kelly Lynch.

Help arrived and crews quickly came up with a solution.

While a vet sedated Scribbles, firefighters cut the tree into sections and then used airbags to lift the weight of the heavy tree to free the horse.

"I can't believe that she survived this. There was a huge tree on her hip. A tree had fallen on her head. She's a survivor," said Becky Garside, the horse's owner.

It's not the first time Scribbles has been rescued.

She was skin and bones and about 300 pounds underweight when her owners took her in last summer.

They nursed her back to health, and now this horse that's been through so much will need to recover from another scare.
