A new poll shows Michelle Bachmann near the top of the GOP field.
In her home state of Iowa, Michele Bachmann will announce today she's running for President.
A weekend poll by the Iowa register put her in a statistical dead heat with Mitt Romney, with 22 percent of the state's vote.
Matt Bai of the New York Times Magazine said, "If you're Michele Bachmann, that's a great start."
But nearly 7 out of 10 Iowa voters said they can still be persuaded to vote for someone else. Sarah Palin is in Iowa tomorrow.
On Sunday, Bachmann urged against raising the debt ceiling, allowing America to borrow more.
“We'll add two-point-four trillion dollars to the debt. We'll have even higher interest payments that we're paying. That cycle has to stop," said Bachmann.
Bachmann accuses the Obama Administration of using "scare tactics." She claims we can make interest-only payments to avoid default.
On same sex marriage, Bachmann told fox it will likely end up being decided by the Supreme Court.
"It is a State issue and it's a Federal issue. It's important for your viewers to know that federal law will trump state law on this issue," said Bachmann.
Back to that Iowa poll: the only other candidate to break double-digits was former pizza executive Herman Cain.
