The Hidalgo County Sheriff's Department is searching for the suspects involved in a burglary and kidnapping case of a mother and child.

On Saturday, July 6, deputies were called to an apartment located at 7012 Venus Street in reference to an aggravated assault.

The victim, Crystal Renee Garcia, reported that she and her cousin, Amanda Torres, were at home when a unknown male knocked on the door and asked Garcia if Torres was there.

Garcia informed the male that Torres did not live there and he left, a few minutes later Torres ex-boyfriend, Jeremy Daniel Mendez, 22, appeared at the door with the second male forcing his way through the apartment's living room window.

It was reported that Mendez then pointed a shotgun at Garcia and demanded for Torres and their 3 month-old son. Mendez then handed the weapon to his accomplice, grabbed the child  and then held Torres by the hair and left the scene.

Through their investigation, deputies were able to locate Mendez in Raymondville, but were unable to capture him. Authorities consider Mendez armed and dangerous and has a minimum of eight felony arrest.

If you have any information on the whereabouts of Mendez you are asked to call the Hidalgo Crime Stoppers Hot line at 956.668.8477.
