Arrest warrants issued on two men involved in double homicide case

Hidalgo County Sheriff investigators have issued arrest warrants on two men involved in a double homicide case that occurred on Sunday.

Deputies were called to a home on Sioux Rd on Sunday, October 27th in reference to two men being fatally shot after they drew their weapons on a property caretaker at the home.

Detectives have identified one of the victims as Jesus Antonio Mendoza Geel, 29, from Weslaco who had an extensive criminal record. The person accused of Geel's death has been identified as Maximilliano Garza Godinez, 47, who was the caretaker of the property, and has an arrest warrant for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

Additional, deputies have issued an arrest warrant for Rene Rivas Villarreal III, 28, who has been identified as a witness to the crime, for tampering/fabricating evidence.
