Arguments Between Father and Son End in Death
Son Charged with the Murder
A dispute between a father and son ends with the father dead. Authorities say the son stabbed his dad and then tried to hide the evidence.
It all happened near Longoria Street in San Pedro Saturday. They’ve been at each other all day. Sheriff Omar Lucio tells us the father, 56-year-old, Armando Rodriguez, had been arguing with his 25-year-old son, Alvaro Gonzalez. We don't know how extreme those arguments were but Sheriff Lucio says someone made several calls to the police department that day.
"He gave what is known as a voluntary statement stating that a dispute had been going between Gonzalez and his father and he confessed to have beaten, stabbed, and then he ran his father over with the truck."
Sheriff deputies found the body at around 10 Saturday night. They found it in this empty field that's now covered with crime scene tape, orange markers and flowers that were placed where Rodriguez was found. The area isn't very far from the family home. In fact, it's only a few feet away. According to the investigators, Gonzalez stabbed his father several times with a screwdriver and as his father was on the ground, he used a red pick-up truck to run him over.
"There were some lacerations to the man, some puncture wounds and he did state that he commit those lacerations and the puncture wounds and then that he did run his father over with the truck."
When authorities found the truck, they found it partially submerged in the river. Authorities believe Gonzalez was trying to hide the evidence and get away with the crime.
"They found the truck there. Somebody was pretty close to it and the border patrol picked up an individual that had fled on foot."
That individual turned out to be Gonzalez. The 25-year-old was arrested and charged with murder. Gonzalez remains in county jail on a $250,000 bond. If convicted he faces five to 99 years in prison.
