Good morning, I’m Na’Tassia Finley with your News Center 23 update. Today is Thursday, April 5, 2012.

Nine more suspects are under arrest in connection to a beating and stabbing on South Padre Island two-weeks ago. That's on top of the eleven arrests already made. Investigators say all the men are believed to be Mexican gangsters.
They're accused of beating a Dallas man nearly to death, during spring break on South Padre Island.

One man is dead, four others, including a child wounded. This after a late-night shooting the night before last. It happened at a home off of La Homa Rd in Hidalgo County. Investigators say a gunman ambushed a group of people behind the home.  Police say none of the victims recognized the gunman. Deputies found a handgun, knife and backpack belonging to the suspect.

Combes police are hoping strong leads will help them crack a local homicide.
The body of 20-year-old Brisna Mireles of Harlingen was found off of Frontage Rd near FM 508 on Saturday. She'd been shot in the head and the back. Police are checking into some persons of interest...but have no motive in the killing.

A man that barricaded himself in his house for over an hour yesterday will see the judge this morning. It happened in Weslaco when a call came into 911. Police arrived on scene and learned the man had assaulted his common law wife and was threatening her at gunpoint, in front of their three year old son. Negotiators were able to talk the man out of his home. Police say the suspect does have a criminal history and may be a gang member. The wife and child got out of the house relatively unharmed.

Police are still trying to ID a bicyclist killed by a truck Saturday.
The man was biking near International Blvd when the wreck happened.
Police say the biker was on the wrong side of the road at the time. No missing persons reports have been filed on the victim leading police to believe the biker is from Mexico

An accused kidnapper had his day in court. Police pulled over Fernando Rivera Jr. near the STC campus in Weslaco the day before yesterday. Inside his car was the victim and the knife allegedly used to kidnap her. Police say the victim was unharmed. No word on the motive for the crime.

A bad wreck north of Olmito.
A cement truck was traveling on a Frontage Rd when it collided with the front of a train. The impact of the crash sent the truck into a ditch. The condition of the driver is unknown.
