Explosion and fire rock gulf oil rig. All on board rescued.

There's been another accident at an oil platform in the Gulf of Mexico.

Fire broke at approximately nine o'clock Thursday morning on a rig 100 miles south of Louisiana's Vermillion Bay.

The oil production platform is owned by Houston-based Mariner Energy Incorporated and is not a drilling facility.

It was reportedly producing just under 59,000 gallons of oil per day.

Three fire-fighting ships were dispatched to the rig.

The Coast Guard reports no one was killed and that all 13 people aboard the platform were rescued in nearby waters.

Mariner said extinguishing the fire and caring for the rescued workers were the initial priorities.

The company says the seven active production wells on the platform were shut down shortly after the fire broke out.

The facility is located in about 340 feet of water.
