Allergy Season in Full Force, Tree Pollen High
BROWNSVILLE — Allergies affect about 15-percent of the general population.
“Beginning typically in the spring there’s high pollen, summer is the grasses, weeds in the fall,” says Allergy Specialist, Dr. Shahid Bangash.
Right now pollen is hitting hard here in the valley and unfortunately, Dr. Bangash says there's not just a whole lot a person can do to avoid the allergen since it’s in the air.
The best way to accurately determine if you truly have allergies is to visit an allergy clinic and get tested, but it's not just outdoor allergens causing those itchy eyes and rapid fire sneezes.
Indoor allergens are also popping up right now because of high humidity.
Mold, cockroaches and dust mites are the top indoor allergens that cause irritation for valley residents.
There are two options for treatment, medicine or allergy injections. The best option for you will be determined by your doctor based on the severity of your allergies.
