Police say they tried to get him to go home to avoid a public intoxication arrest.
But apparently, 30 year old Conrado Bryant wasn't ready to go home, that's when he allegedly got aggressive with two Brownsville police officers.
It happened off of the 900 block of West Washington St.
A resident living in the area called police after noticing what appeared to be a drunk man and two dogs walking down the road.
Police made contact and asked Bryant to call someone to come pick him up.
But he refused to do so, what he did next struck the two officers as odd.
"At one point he went down on his knees and started praying, saying that he didn't want to hurt the officers, he didn't want to break the officers." said Eddie Garcia, Brownsville Police Dept, PIO.
When he got up from his "prayer", police say he popped up in a boxing stance and started throwing punches at them. They wrestled him back to the ground, but this time, in not such a holy position, he was face down and handcuffed.
"He also threatened the officers that the next time they better draw their weapons on him, if they don't want to get hurt." said Garcia.
The officers did not report any injuries as a result of the physical altercation.
However, Bryant found himself locked up in the city jail charged with that initial count of public intoxication, plus two counts of assault on a public servant and two counts of making a terroristic threat against a public servant. His bond has been set at 39-thousand dollars.
