Mission, TX (NEWS CENTER 23) — The 800 block of Sunrise Lane is peaceful today, but traces of blood tell the tale of an unpeaceful weekend that ended in a 911 call.
"She was hysterical and she was saying her friend was bleeding, and that another person has stabbed him," said Cpl. Manuel Casas, Mission Police.
After speaking with the victim, police arrested Herman Hernandez, 26.
"He had admitted to police that he had been the one who did the cutting. So he is being charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon," said Cpl. Casas.
Witnesses told police Hernandez used a serrated weapon to cut the victim's forearm.
"It was serious enough that it sawed either the nerve or the bone. They were not sure, so they immediately transported him to Mission Regional Hospital," said Cpl. Casas.
Police said the night started off friendly, just a get together between neighbors. But police believe one factor changed the mood of the night dramatically. That factor being alcohol. Police said both parties had been drinking all night long.
At 8:00 a.m. when police arrived, both parties were extremely drunk. The victim was released from the hospital today, they said they are if he will be able to have use of his arm.
