Abortion battle begins again at State Capitol
AUSTIN, TEXAS (KVEO NEWSCENTER 23) — The battle over abortion regulations is in full force, once again at the State Capitol, hundreds are showing up and showing their support for each side.
The State Senate Health and Human Services Committee held a day long meeting on the topic in Austin on Monday.
State Senators heard arguments from both sides of the issue and asked medical questions about the procedure.
The bills seek to restrict abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy and also requires abortions to be performed in surgical centers.
The House is scheduled to debate and vote on their version of the bill on Tuesday, as you recall, this debate caught national attention when State Senator Wendy Davis held a 13 hour filibuster to stop the bill during the legislature's regular session.
