A woman who survived a horrific encounter with her attacker lives to turn the story of her tragic ordeal into a source of empowerment to help other victims speak out.
Eleven years ago, Jennifer Schuett was abducted from her bedroom window in Dickinson, Texas, just outside Galveston.
"I was kidnapped by an unknown male who claimed that he was an undercover police officer and he put me in his vehicle and took me to an overgrown field, a vacant field and he raped me, slit my throat from ear to ear and left me there to die on top of a fire ant hill."
It was over twelve hours before Jennifer was found.
"Luckily there were some children the next night playing tag in the field and they came across my body."
Her attacker thought he had finished Jennifer off...he didn't know who he was dealing with.
"Lived through the attack, was told I would never be able to speak again."
Jennifer's attacker remained at large before being arrested two years ago. She now uses her voice to inspire others to speak out about child abuse.
"I hope that my story empowers them, encourages them to not be afraid to stand up for what they deserve, which is justice."
Jennifer is a victim advocate and speaks to a wide range of professionals who care for an abused individual.
"I'm able to travel and share my story with members of law enforcement, therapists, social workers, nurses and help them understand what we go through as the survivors of these crimes."
Jennifer will continue to speak out against abuse in appearances across the country. To learn more about Jennifer's story, you can visit her webpage at www.justiceforjennifer.com.
