500 Pounds Netted By Border Agents

GARCIASVILLE- Border Patrol netting $460,000 worth of dope early Tuesday morning making it the second time border agents confiscated narcotics in the area in 2011.

According to Border Patrol, smugglers were carrying large bundles of marijuana on their backs while walking north through brush heading to a car. As Border Patrol agents approached the smugglers, they noticed a Blue Chevrolet Impala approach the gate at the end of the street. As the agents confronted the subjects, they immediately dropped their cargo and fled before they could load the bundles into the vehicle. Responding agents were able to apprehend the two subjects in the vehicle.

The case was turned over to agents of the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HITDA), they assumed custody of the narcotics, the vehicle and the driver.
