The number are huge, statistics from Texas AG Commissioner Todd Staples show a big surge in apprehensions of illegal immigrants in South Texas.

In the past eleven months about 213,000 illegal immigrants have been apprehended, that's about the size of Brownsville, Harlingen, La Feria and Raymondville combined.

It's a 30% increase in apprehensions from this time last year, just in the area from Del Rio to Brownsville. The AG Commissioner says the federal government needs to increase resources to secure our border.
