A 19-year-old girl has been booked and charged for using a family member's credit card without proper consent.

She used a close family member's debit card to make three different purchases on the same day in late December. Police say, 19-year-old, Bianca Dominique Garza, entered the relative's pin number to make those purchases. Authorities tell us Garza had no idea she'd ever get caught but when the card's owner saw several inconsistencies in her bank statement, she reported it to police.

"At that time she filed a police report. Detectives started working on that particular case. They were able to track down the person using that credit card and unfortunately it was found that it was a family member of the person filing the report."

Garza was charged with three counts of credit card abuse and three counts of using fraudulent use of identifying information. Garza is accused of charging over $300 on the debit card.

"The fraudulent use of identifying information is because they were using the actual pin number without the owner's consent."

Not too often do police see this type of incident where relatives report on family. But in this case, the victim had no idea who made the fraudulent purchases and as Public Information Officer, Eddie Garcia explains, the victim had to report to authorities for the bank to reimburse her.

"In most cases, most financial institutions will not reimburse unless people file and proceed with the charges against those people that have misused these credit cards."

Garza appeared before a judge this morning and was given a $30,000 bond. Garcia says the victim has dropped all the charges but the case is no longer with the police department.

Police say it's now up to the District Attorney's office to indict the girl or dismiss all the charges.
