$15 million dollars is heading to Cameron County to help expand health care services to residents.
The money is expected to do much more than open up the needed space at the clinics. The money comes from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act signed by President Obama. It is expected to produce hundreds of construction jobs to help stimulate the economy. One clinic receiving the funds is the Brownsville Community Health Center and the Director of the facility says the funding will help pay 3 quarters of the cost of a new facility that already broke ground.
