$1.5 million in cocaine seized at Hidalgo port of entry
HIDALGO CITY, TX (KVEO NEWS CENTER 23) — Custom officers, working at the Hidalgo port of entry, seized nearly $1.5 million in cocaine in connection to a failed smuggling attempt.
On Thursday, July 18th officers encountered a red 2001 Ford Mustang, driven by a Mexican woman, and referred her to a secondary inspection.
During their examination the vehicle was scanned with a imaging system which detected packages of suspected narcotics within the Mustang.
CBP officers removed 18 packages of alleged cocaine weighing over 45 pounds with an estimated value of $1,453,000 dollars.
The woman was arrested and released to the custody of Homeland Security Investigators for further questioning.
