"Paying for torture"
John Forbes started out a reluctant gym member.
"I developed a hostility towards physical education that lasted me for something like 80 years."
Now at the more mature age of 103 this founding professor at the University of Virginia's Darden School is building up his body with trainer Krystyn Dotson during 30 minute sessions twice a week.
"He's been with me 136 sessions."
The pair pushes through a warm-up on the bike followed by a trek around the track.
"By far this is the longest you've walked since I've known you."
"I like it very much. It helps in every bodily activity."
Dotson is helping Forbes balance the frailty age brings.
"You feel how the body is fighting that's what we want to see."
With this centurion the will to stay active and fit.
"It's not just all about atheistic being pretty but it's more about life."
Though it's not a stretch to imagine forbes powering through a workout for many more years.
"Got another good one, two decades left I think of him."
"I'll keep coming the rest of my life."
